The starting hair showed warmer brown lengths, comparatively flat colour distribution and dry ends. Because different areas had already been through repeated chemical services, the hair could not be treated like an untouched base. The plan was adjusted around the condition and response of each area.
The goal was not to chase the palest possible result. It was to create a visible change while respecting the hair’s existing chemical history and keeping the finished colour practical to manage at home.

Instead of packing fine highlights tightly across the entire head, Oilly combined finer and broader balayage ribbons. Intentional negative space gives each lighter piece room to remain visible and creates a more natural transition from the deeper root area into the brighter lengths.
Because the hair had already been chemically processed, 3% developer was selected for a slower, more controlled lightening process. The sections were monitored carefully and developed according to how the hair responded rather than being forced to lift at the same speed. This was a case-specific technical choice, not a promise of damage-free lightening.
Epres bond-repair support and professional conditioning products were included during the service to support the hair through the colour process and help maintain a softer, smoother finished feel. Bond-care support does not replace careful assessment, conservative placement or realistic expectations about achievable brightness.
Previously chemically processed hair can respond differently from section to section. This case required consultation, detailed placement, gradual lightening, repeated condition checks, treatment support and finishing, so the complete service took approximately five to six hours.
The completed colour has a softer, dimensional effect rather than a dense highlight pattern. Fine ribbons soften the blend, broader pieces create clearer points of brightness and the deeper root area preserves contrast. From the front, brighter placement frames the face; from the back, the beige-golden ribbons remain visible through the waves.
