Who is digital perm suitable for?

A digital perm normally takes around 4–5 hours or more, depending on hair length, thickness, density, and the condition of each client’s hair. Some clients need root smoothing first if the top area is frizzy, while the ends are permed to create waves that frame the face more smoothly. Some clients already have straight, smooth roots and only need curls through the mid-lengths and ends.

Before starting, we check the hair condition and explain what can realistically be achieved. If the hair condition is uncertain, we may test one small strand first to see whether the hair can safely form a digital perm curl.

How to care for digital perm at home

After digital perm, you can shampoo and condition your hair normally. After washing, gently towel-dry until damp, squeeze the curls upward with your hands, apply curl cream or curl styling product, then blow-dry while twisting the curls inward or outward depending on the style you want. Some clients can also let the hair air-dry naturally, but digital perm usually looks more defined when finished with light blow-drying.

In Bangkok humidity, moisture balance is important. We recommend using hair oil, leave-in moisture, and curl styling products regularly so the waves stay soft, hydrated, and more controlled.

How long does digital perm last?

Cold Perm Bangkok (ดัดเย็น)

If you want soft, lasting waves without daily heavy blow-drying, cold perm is the option to consider. It suits clients who prefer to wash, scrunch, add curl cream or light oil, and let the hair dry naturally. The curl responds well to water, so it can be refreshed in the morning when the wave looks frizzy or out of shape.

At Oilly Hair Salon Sathorn, we use Korean-imported oval rods for selected cold-perm designs. The oval shape helps create modern S-wave movement with more dimension than a standard round rod. Curl size is chosen from your reference photo, hair length, layers, density, and the real condition of your hair.

After wrapping the rods and applying the perm solution, we usually process for about 35–40 minutes, then check the curl. If the wave is not fully formed, the stylist may add time based on hair condition. Once the curl is ready, we lock it with neutralizer for about 10–15 minutes, remove the rods, and finish with in-salon treatment to restore moisture.
