Before: long hair with uneven texture and loose, frizzy movement. After: soft layered waves with a more balanced shape, smoother movement and a natural Korean-style finish.
BEFORE DIGITAL PERM
If your hair is coarse, dry, damaged, or recently treated with Keratin, we recommend a consultation before Digital Perm. This guide explains why texture and damage level matter before choosing a wave service.
Read the suitability guideA perm at Oilly Hair Salon in Sathorn, Bangkok is a professional curl and wave service for Korean-style soft waves, digital perm definition, cold perm movement, body wave volume, or root lift. Each perm starts with consultation, hair condition assessment, design selection, processing, styling, and aftercare guidance, so the technique is planned around your chemical history, face shape, lifestyle, and daily styling routine.
Soft, natural-looking waves inspired by K-beauty trends. Effortless volume and movement that looks like you were born with it — best for medium-length Asian hair seeking subtle texture and shape.
Digital perm is a heat-set perm designed for dry-finish definition. Unlike cold perm, where the curl is refreshed mainly with water and styling product, digital perm uses temperature-controlled rods to build curl memory into the mid-lengths and ends. The result is a clearer C-curl, S-curl, loose wave, or Korean-style soft wave that looks most polished after light blow-drying.
At Oilly Hair Salon in Sathorn, we do not treat digital perm as one fixed formula. The stylist checks hair texture, density, length, previous straightening, keratin, color or bleach history, face shape, and daily styling habits before choosing the rod size, sectioning, heat level, and process plan. This is why two clients asking for “digital perm Bangkok” may receive different recommendations.
Korean perm describes the soft, natural wave style many clients ask for; digital perm and cold perm are the methods we choose from after checking the hair. Choose digital perm if you want larger C-curl, S-curl, or loose Korean-style waves that look clearer after light blow-drying. Choose cold perm if you prefer softer movement that can be refreshed with water, curl cream, and air-drying. At Oilly Hair Salon Sathorn, we check length, density, previous straightening, keratin, color or bleach history, and daily styling routine before choosing the safest perm method.
Choose digital perm when you want larger, more structured waves that show clearly when dry, especially on medium or long hair. Choose cold perm when you prefer softer movement that can be refreshed with water, curl cream, and air-drying. If your hair is fine, flat, very dense, frizzy, bleached, or chemically treated, the better choice depends on the in-salon hair check, not only on the reference photo.
For a real Oilly finished-look example, see our Digital Perm Soft Waves Bangkok case, which shows loose waves through the mid-lengths and ends on long hair. If you are comparing this with a softer water-refreshed curl routine, read the Cold Perm Bangkok guide before booking.
| Question | Digital Perm | Cold Perm |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Larger C-curl, S-curl, loose waves, and a clearer styled finish on medium to long hair. | Softer movement, Korean-style texture, root lift, or curls that can be refreshed with water and curl cream. |
| Consultation focus | Hair condition, previous colour or bleach history, wave size, and how the curl will sit after drying. | Hair elasticity, scalp comfort, desired volume, and whether the finish should look casual or more defined. |
| Daily care | Works best with curl-friendly drying, light styling cream, and moisture support in Bangkok humidity. | Usually easier for daily styling, but still needs gentle drying and aftercare to keep the wave shape. |
Some hair conditions need a careful in-salon check before deciding. We avoid promising a perm result before seeing the real hair condition, because previous chemical services can affect curl formation, dryness, breakage risk, and longevity.
A digital perm normally takes around 4–5 hours or more, depending on hair length, thickness, density, and the condition of each client’s hair. Some clients need root smoothing first if the top area is frizzy, while the ends are permed to create waves that frame the face more smoothly. Some clients already have straight, smooth roots and only need curls through the mid-lengths and ends.
Before starting, we check the hair condition and explain what can realistically be achieved. If the hair condition is uncertain, we may test one small strand first to see whether the hair can safely form a digital perm curl. We also explain whether the desired reference photo needs digital perm, cold perm, body wave, haircut layering, root smoothing, or treatment first.
After digital perm, you can shampoo and condition your hair normally. After washing, gently towel-dry until damp, squeeze the curls upward with your hands, apply curl cream or curl styling product, then blow-dry while twisting the curls inward or outward depending on the style you want. Some clients can also let the hair air-dry naturally, but digital perm usually looks more defined when finished with light blow-drying.
In Bangkok humidity, moisture balance is important. We recommend using hair oil, leave-in moisture, and curl styling products regularly so the waves stay soft, hydrated, and more controlled. If the curl looks frizzy in the morning, lightly dampen the section, add a small amount of curl product, then twist and dry again.
Digital perm usually lasts around 4–6 months. For some clients, the wave can remain visible for 8 months or longer depending on hair condition, curl design, home care, and how fast the hair grows. Over time, the curl usually does not disappear at once — it gradually becomes looser as the hair grows out.
If you are not sure whether digital perm suits your hair, face shape, or lifestyle, you can visit Oilly Hair Salon for a consultation. We will check your hair condition first, look at your desired style and daily routine, then explain the most suitable perm option before starting.
If you want soft, lasting waves without daily heavy blow-drying, cold perm is the option to consider. It suits clients who prefer to wash, scrunch, add curl cream or light oil, and let the hair dry naturally. The curl responds well to water, so it can be refreshed in the morning when the wave looks frizzy or out of shape.
At Oilly Hair Salon Sathorn, we use Korean-imported oval rods for selected cold-perm designs. The oval shape helps create modern S-wave movement with more dimension than a standard round rod. Curl size is chosen from your reference photo, hair length, layers, density, and the real condition of your hair.
After wrapping the rods and applying the perm solution, we usually process for about 35–40 minutes, then check the curl. If the wave is not fully formed, the stylist may add time based on hair condition. Once the curl is ready, we lock it with neutralizer for about 10–15 minutes, remove the rods, and finish with in-salon treatment to restore moisture.
Bleached hair, very light highlights, very frizzy hair, very dense hair, or hair with repeated chemical history must be checked first. Adding defined waves can make already-frizzy or very thick hair feel bigger and puffier, so we will explain honestly whether cold perm fits your daily routine.
For the full home-care routine, see the cold perm aftercare guide: moisture, gentle detangling, damp styling, and curl-support product are the key steps.
