Vanilla Blonde Balayage with Root Shadow Blend

A finished-result Case by Oilly, designed around a vanilla-blonde Balayage with a touch of warmth and soft ash dimension through the ribbons. A Root Shadow Blend kept the root area natural and connected the colour with future new growth, while the three result views show the face frame, back placement and polished movement.

Vanilla blonde with a touch of warmth and soft ash dimension

The colour direction was not a flat or fully cool blonde. The client wanted a vanilla-blonde result with a small amount of warmth, while still seeing an ash presence through the hair. Oilly balanced those directions by building lighter ribbons that create visible depth and movement rather than one uniform block of colour.

Dimensional Balayage ribbons

Creating fine, dimensional ribbons takes time because forming the visible ribbon pattern requires careful work. From the back, the lighter pieces remain distinct enough to show movement while still blending into the deeper root area. From the front, brighter pieces frame the face without turning into heavy, high-contrast stripes.

Root Shadow Blend for a natural-looking transition

A Root Shadow Blend was applied away from direct scalp contact. Its purpose in this individual design was to soften the root area and connect the coloured lengths with future new growth, reducing the appearance of a hard dividing line. The result keeps natural-looking depth at the top while allowing the vanilla-blonde ribbons to remain visible through the lengths.

A five-to-six-hour service using 3% developer

This Case took approximately five to six hours because the ribbon placement and gradual lightening required careful work. Three-percent developer was used during the controlled lightening stage for this client, with the process advanced gradually while prioritising hair condition and strength.

Chemical lightening is not damage-free, and the same developer strength, placement or timing cannot be prescribed for every client. Colour history and current hair condition must be assessed before the service begins.

Softness, shine and movement after colouring

Professional care products were used through the service, followed by the rinse-out Oilly Laurel Oil Hair Mask. This concentrated treatment supported a softer, smoother feel, visible shine and a more fluid, weighted finish. The completed hair retained a strong and manageable feel for this individual result, but a treatment does not reverse all existing chemical damage.
