From Red and Black Ends to Grey Blending Baby Highlights
This client came to Oilly Hair Salon in Sathorn, Bangkok with old red and black colour in her ends. She wanted to change her look to grey blending: a pattern that mimics white hair, so new white growth blends in naturally. Oilly started with a strand test, lifted the old colour with only 3% developer, then placed fine baby highlights close to the scalp.

Starting Point: Red and Black in the Ends
This was another case of removing old red and black colour from the ends. The client wanted a new look built around grey blending, so that the colour imitates white hair and looks natural.
Her idea was simple: instead of covering white hair, let the colour work with it.
Before and After
Before
After
Strand Test First, Then Only 3% Developer
Before any bleaching started, Oilly tested a strand of her hair first.
The hair was then lightened using only 3% developer. It took two rounds to clear the red, with treatment from leading products along the way.
Baby Highlights Designed to Mimic White Hair
The client asked for baby highlights. Oilly placed fine lines in small sections across the whole head, close to the scalp, and designed the pattern to imitate natural white hair as closely as possible.
Building the pattern took about seven hours. Because the highlights look like her own white hair, new white growth blends in as it comes through. She does not need frequent root touch-ups or to recolour every time the roots grow, and the regrowth looks softer and more natural.
Muted Grey-Shimmer Blonde and a Slide-Cut Shape
The finished colour is a muted blonde with a grey shimmer.
Oilly also slide-cut layers into a softly rounded shape to suit her face. The new shape changed her look: her face stands out more and the overall impression is smoother.
A Pattern Designed for Each Client
Every grey blending pattern is designed for the person wearing it, to suit their personality and face shape.
