The Request: Baby Highlights Right to the Scalp

This was another baby highlights case. The client wanted fine highlights spread across her whole head, blended softly and placed as close to the root and scalp as possible.

In the Before photo, her roots were darker and the older blonde through her lengths looked warmer and less even.

Why No Root Fill or Root Shadow Was Needed

Because each highlight starts right at the scalp, the light lines run from the root instead of stopping short of it. That is why this design does not need a root fill or a root shadow.

Bleach Only for a Natural Ice Blonde

This was highlights only. No colour was applied and no toner was used: the lines were lightened with bleach alone.

The finished tone is a natural ice blonde, with her deeper base still showing between the fine lines.

Treatment at Every Step, Including Laurel Oil Hair Mask

Once the highlight lines were in, Oilly treated the hair at each step of the process, including Oilly Hair Salon's Laurel Oil Hair Mask. It adds moisture and softness and helps the hair fall smoothly with weight.

The whole appointment took about 4 hours, covering the highlight lines and the treatment steps along the way.
