Korean S-Wave Digital Perm and Muted Brown Toner for Fine, Light Hair in Bangkok

This client came to Oilly with very fine, soft hair that tended to frizz and puff up, felt light and would not fall with any weight. Her colour had also lifted to a bright, golden base. She wanted a new look, so Oilly combined a Korean-style S-wave digital perm for visible volume around the face with a toner that moved the golden brightness into a softer, muted brown.

Starting Point: Very Fine Hair That Wouldn’t Settle

The client’s strands were very fine and soft. Her hair tended to frizz and stand away from the head, felt light, and would not drape or settle with any real weight.

Her colour had also become bright, with a golden cast through the lengths. Together, the texture and tone made the overall look feel flat and unsettled rather than soft and finished.

The Brief: A New Look with More Volume

She wanted to change her look. The goal was hair that looked fuller and had more visible volume, with a shape that would make her face stand out straight away.

Oilly chose a Korean-style S-wave digital perm for the movement and shape, and a toner to rebalance the colour in the same appointment.

Why a Korean S-Wave Digital Perm

Soft S-waves add visible movement and body to fine hair that otherwise sits flat or frizzes. In this case, the waves were designed to frame the face and give the whole silhouette more presence.

A perm creates a fuller-looking shape; it does not physically thicken each strand. The visible volume comes from the wave pattern and the cut working together.

Toner: From Bright Golden to Muted Brown

Oilly glazed the colour with a toner so it would look smoother, more even and fresher than before. The bright, golden base was moved into a muted brown tone.

The softer brown was chosen to make her face look gentler and to help the hair look and feel weightier at once, rather than light and brassy.

Controlling Heat and Solution for Fine Hair

With hair this fine and soft, the critical part of a digital perm is control: managing the heat and choosing and timing the perm solution to suit the hair’s current condition.

Care steps were built into the process to help protect the hair from becoming drier or more damaged. Every perm is a chemical service, so the plan is always set to the individual hair rather than promised as damage-free.

Timing: About 4–5 Hours

The full appointment took approximately 4–5 hours. That included the digital perm, the toner, trimming and shaping the style, and the care steps in between.

Finishing Care: Oilly Laurel Oil Hair Mask

Straight after the service, the hair felt soft and moisturised. It was then finished with Oilly Laurel Oil Hair Mask to add moisture and shine and to help the hair fall with more weight.

Result: Fuller S-Waves in a Softer Brown

The back view shows defined S-waves in an even, muted brown, replacing the golden, frizzy straight lengths in the Before photo. The front view shows waves and a soft fringe framing the face.

Oilly’s starting point for every perm is the same: beautiful curls should also leave the hair in healthy condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a digital perm work on very fine, soft hair?

It can, when heat and solution are controlled to suit the hair’s current condition. Oilly assesses the hair before deciding whether a digital perm is suitable and how to process it.

Will a digital perm make fine hair thicker?

It makes the hair look fuller through wave and shape. It does not physically thicken individual strands.

Why add a toner to a perm appointment?

In this case the toner smoothed and refreshed the colour, moving a bright golden base into a muted brown that softened the face and helped the hair look weightier.

How long did this appointment take?

About 4–5 hours, including the digital perm, toner, trim and shaping, and care steps.

How was the hair finished?

With Oilly Laurel Oil Hair Mask for moisture, shine and a weightier fall.

Thinking About a Digital Perm for Fine Hair?

Send Oilly a photo of your current hair to discuss wave size, colour and whether a digital perm suits your hair condition. Hair is assessed again in the salon before the service begins.
